I'm looking for tall skinny tires and wheels, and a unique engine. Being jet age I have seen some used turbines for sale $$$$, or if I want a more vintage vibe I saw a decently priced Double Wasp R2800. Then there are the basic gas or diesel engines I could go with.
gas ?? diesel??? what are you thinking go the expensive route.
oh and make it look good maybe paint an anvil and/or hammer on the sides

ps we expect a thread on this

ok thats what it is i thought it was just a small anvil

HMM I guess "Don't get bit by snakes while scavenging steel off the wrecks." Probably doesn't apply as much up there as down here. Don't breath any smoke from grease/oil/under coatings that may be on the metal still does.
snakes you mean the garters up here

I’m not sure what steel mine is. It’s made from a piece of 3/4” sway bar off a truck. Im guessing it’s some form of medium carbon steel but I don’t know for sure. I’m planning on leaving it soft and just touching up with a file or grinder when needed. The next one I make will probably get hardened. I’m not planning on cutting anything big with it and my hammer control is so-so right now.

ok thanks everybody i know my father has a few wrecks around the place se if i can snage 1 or 2 off him any extra cautions for working with such steels? frosty thanks the place i am able to sorce from i would have cost me 74$ for a 3/4 piece of W1 square or 38$ (USD) for 7/8 rod 3 foot for both?????????????
will look into the jack hammer bits as well.

so this was saterdays work:
i welded plates to the bottom of a skider canter pivot then attached it to a stump with lag bolts the 2x10 are to raise it up more as this was a piece destined for the axe and then a 16" stove
next i was called away to empty 2000lb of chicken feed... thats what happens when you raise 100 birds for 3 families and then share the butchering.
afterwards i went to start up my forge and discovered that the lining is cracked so must wait till i get some fresh coating before i fire it up again oh well gives me time to build my JABOD
M.J.Lampert
P.S. thomas my father suggested my name then went to the gun cabinet to find spelling
hint .444 lever gun

nice i need to make a order and mail call soon too

so i got all this today
2 55 drums 1 for a charcoal retort and 1 for whatever else i need .(ideas welcome though 55 forge will possibly be disregarded asalready have a propane and a JABOD in plans with old bar-B-Q) price? free
i picked this clamp for holding handle scales together (face could use a little cleaning with a file but it'll work ) at the local man shed as well as a new canon camera for $10 with some other nick nacks(pays of to help the older men with bending and lifting while i wait for the 3D printer to finish on school projects)
also my father brough home a load of bearings and a pin after changing them from a skidder center pivit the pin whil be use as an anvil via a few slight mods it will work much nicer than the cast aso if been trying to use the last 2 years also i told my father to hold back on bringing grease coated bearings (these went through a semi vigourous varsal cleaning before pic and still have plenty to show) welding glove for scale
overall a good day

And NO I refused to hold the chicken why someone whacked it's head off with a hatchet and I was 10 IIRC
thats why you should hold the axe and the chichen if you get cut 100% your fault (or the chickens)
