  2. Cool looking forward to it!
  3. welcome! lots of knife makers here! Many people to talk to.
  4. wow i cant read, I looked at maroon and saw ULTRAMORON... oops
  5. oh dont worry, I know. lucky for me, it's a square shop. so the plans carry over to most other square shops. see? addiction i need to start going to meetings. lol
  6. Thanks thomas, a friend of mine said he can get more, I'll be sure to say no. since cutting them is not worth the hassle as well.
  7. HA so far I feel lucky, the house we're looking at buying needs to be prettied up, but has a nice detached garage which I have big plans for... my lady is big into interior design, and has said I cant do anything in the house except the demo work grunt work and shop work... woe is me! as far as addiction goes I have gone back to the house that we havent bought yet, just to look in the garage... with the realtor (no one lives there) if we dont get this place I will be a sad little person. because the waiting game is the worst!
  8. Best of luck with the fires.

  9. I found a whole bunch of plates that hold rail road tracks in place... I dont know what to do with them, but I have about 8. they were in a pile, it took my girlfriend and I two trips to get them! heavy stuff this metal is lol
  10. If you have access to an air compressor... I have used the 4'' cutting wheel attachment to cut sheets, it works, but the air runs low quickly... I have also used a jigsaw not on 1/4 inch though, that would be a LOT of blades... I like the skill saw and band saw ideas. If you go with the angle grinder, i would look for a thinner disk. good luck!
  11. I really like it! nice work. The only thing I might have done different is bring the leather thats on the bottom of the handle together so it looks sealed/whole... Trying to give some critique, tough with this knife though!
  12. Nice, thats cool you got em to stick to wood. It's just one of those things that has to be tested out, you know. speaking of... I should try to make some throwing knives.... your an inspiration!

    new stuff

    those look good, nice work!
  14. My first knife, the blade was wave-y, I gave it to my dad, and he put it next to the tv...so when ever someone looks at the tv boom! "look at that big knife...oh what happened to it?" lol my family kept a lot of my firsts.... like my first model car...It looked like it came from the junk yard of model cars! I think your knife is cool, keep it up!
  15. I use a 6'' grinder like that one, I like it, I also have a belt sander that I find very useful, I use my angle grinder quite a bit as well... I would check out some local pawn shops, they usually have a lot of carpentry tools that work well for a start. I have seen belt sanders and grinders going for twenty bucks... thats a simple start, you can always upgrade from there.
  16. yes, winter sucks. but hey! spring is trying to show up! -good luck-
  17. Thats pretty cool, did you test any? cardboard or wood, preferably not the way batman tests them out lol
  18. yeah that is a cool anvil, and here I found a 2' piece of railroad track that was exciting enough for me... wait until i find my first anvil!
  19. personally I would attach it to the platform but it all depends on the work you are doing. Im not going to tell you to start messing with your tools. but I know I would alter the vice before the drill press, and it sounds like you have a theory to run with, so good luck
  20. I like it! my first forge... if it can be called that... was basically a fire pit with a bag of charcoal dumped in it, and a shop vac blowing on the coals... I really wanted to work on knives ok!? lol
