Tong repair
in Tongs
Mr Beef
I am no expert but I would think that steel tongs would be stronger if welded versus brazed but look forward to discussion.
-
Made a pencil sharpener and screw in hook from the same spring. Hardened the sharpener and drew to dark straw but its not very hard. Did a bunch of other stuff and had a fun 4 hours at the forge
-
Nice anvil Steven. Amazing condition!
I wonder if the stamping was done by a previous owner who added the weight. Plus the “cast steel” is questionable to me. ??

Mr. Jungle - not sure how you are going to to paint kastolite. Less water is best IMO

Love the hatchet. What is it made from?

Very nice. Love the shape and profile

The nicest tool I have made to date. Studebaker leaf spring quench in oil. Tempered to dark straw with the heat left in the spine. Took a lot of stone work but it is very sharp. Christmas gift for my wood worker brother. He loved it
thanks for looking

Nice score CGL. Kens tong bundles are great. Got this from my new favorite son in law

Nice score. I have found the vinegar trick works well to restore old files.

Played with my new guillotine. Found that I need to dress the dies, I broke my first tenon from cold shuts and learned it is not as easy as I thought it would be. Had a fun couple hours - merry christmas :-)
