Beautiful work Das! Nice poker too, I really like your weld!! I was bored last night so I made a pallet buster for a friend of mine. He heats his shop with old pallets and I thought he would like a hand. That's my mini weld table in the post vise.

That Treadle hammer is coming along fine!!!

Hey guys, Thanks! Wasn't my idea, I just modified someone else's design adapted H.F. cheap adjustable wrenches and pry bar. I bought the clamps from Mcmaster. I welded two old wrenches together head to head for the twisting wrench. It sure helps out when you need speed and symmetry. The torch and cool method make a cleaner twist however.

Maybe this will simplify my question. I'm trying to decide which opening may be better on my forge project Or, hopefully someone else has a much better idea! It will be located in a drafty environment. Thanks again guys!

I bought this hopper/ stand combo recently. My plans are to turn it into my new forge by putting a 3/8" sheet top on the stand and put in a firepot. I have been trying to decide what is best way to take advantage of the shape of the hood. I was thinking of flipping it upside down and mounting the flange to the table top. I am considering putting a 12" x 12" opening on the front. The hood will take a 12" pipe when finished. My flue pipe will go up 10 feet. Can anyone weigh in on what may be a good style or shape or amount of opening in the hood sides so I can get to the firepot? Sorry about the bad picture... Thanks guys

I remember my Dad digging out a basement under our house with one and my uncle using an old F20 Farmall tractor in 1963. It was quite a job as it was mostly clay. I don't know how many hundred scoops it must have taken!

I think that may push it to it's limits. Maybe in 3/16" or 1/4"stock?

Nice job! Those low stamped handles are a pain for sure! I tried out my new mini 6" H.F. chop saw and was really amazed at how well it performed! I made some 5 degree cuts in 1-1/4" sq. x 3/16" tubing for the knife maker anvil legs and a cut a couple of the hammer bits. Great deal at $34.00 with a 25% off coupon. Looks like I'm going to have a few extra ends for fullers to give away.

I picked up the mother load of new wrist style sweat bands yesterday. I got them at my local industrial surplus place for a song. 15 lbs. of them. I should be able to load my friends up with a lifetime supply! They are cotton so no chance of melting (I hope) if they decide to use them while forging. Thankfully, all of my craftsmen friends have a pretty high degree of common sense! Can't say the same for some of my relatives however....

Looking good! I would really like to see whatcha' make with it! I worked on my Dial a hole anvil today. A bit more drilling, fabrication and welding to go but it's going to work great! I added an oval for Tomahawk heads and such. I hope to have it finished tomorrow.

Nice bottle opener design and execution Zeroclick! I picked up about 100 Lbs. of round 1/2" x 27" A36 drops at my local steel supplier and they are great for teaching and other projects. My student Mac made his first set of tongs today from that A36. I had him practice the left, left, left method at home with modeling clay, a hammer and a block of wood for an anvil. He did a bang up good job on his first try! Pretty good for a first set and this is with a very badly damaged left hand from a firefight in Nam.

Merry Christmas everyone! I got up early and was bored so I started a set of small tongs from A36 3/8" square for a display board.

Made a hardy fixture to let me place and turn my scroll forms in any of four directions on my anvil. Works great! I changed the carriage bolt to a hex head bolt after taking the pics.
