Thanks for all of your suggestions guys. I do have decades of machine design and building behind me and years of blacksmithing experience, hand and power also. However, I just do not like do things on the cheap or half A## and do not have access anymore to a CNC router or wood working equipment for mold making. I also do not wish to add lead residue to my forges nor buy lead casting equipment for one pour. I will keep looking for someone that may be able to supply me this one part. Hi, Can anyone who has built a Clay Spencer\Ray Clontz power hammer supply me with the lead offset wheel weight? I do not have any way to make the mold and melt the lead. I will happily pay for one! Thanks guys, Stitch

I know for sure that they were oil quenched. When I was a kid (long time ago), my old Neighbor worked in the heat treat section at Ridge for over 30 years. We had a field trip to Ridge tool in High school for metal shop in 1972. I watched him shoveling pipe wrench jaws into a huge gas open oven prior to oil quench. It was like xxxx in there! I had a newfound respect for him after that. He was Hungarian and showed me what a work ethic meant.

C.R.S. = Cold rolled steel. I used it because it was free. I usually work in Wrought Iron or H.R.S. (hot rolled steel). Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! I finished them with Graphite powder and Olive oil to make a paste. Applied and then buffed off with a cotton cloth. I then gave them 2 coats of clear lacquer. Just enough to seal and give them a hint of shine which did not show up in the pics. I've never used black paint on my forgings. I really like these on my shop. Stitch

I made a set of tree branch door pulls inspired by Chandler Dickinson on the 4th. I used 1" C.R.S. that was given to me by a friend. I will be making another set for my brother soon.
