nice job. better than any knifes i've made.
-
not bad for a first go-round. the next ones you make, use half inch stock, as it will hold up a lot better. way to go.

those lincoln welder will last a lifetime. my ac/dc buzzbox is 20+ years old and runs like new.
-
it smacks of vulcan to me.
-
i'm praying for you, brother. follow God and hold on to him, no matter what. no matter who let's you down, He won't.
-
nice anvil. i rely need (want) a big shop anvil like that.
-
star trek set aside, try puttin a bigger pulley on your motor, or a smaller one on your blower. or you could just get a normal hand-crank blower like the rest of us lazy none-creative people.

i agree with daswulf on the champion #400. that was there flagship line of blowers. when you go to look at it, bring some chainsaw bar oil. if it makes any grinding sounds, try oiling it and seeing if it helps.it could just be that it is dry. after that, if it makes any other sound than a soft wurr, i wouldn't mess with it. like TP said, you don't want to get tangled up in gear replacement.

Do NOT feel you must "fix" anything such as weld or grind on it. Just use it as is.
definitely right. many folks mess there anvils up trying to 'fix' them, especially with a welder. use it as is, or if you rely want, you can oil it with some wd-40 to make it 'shiny'.

from my experience with bamboo, i would think that it would split to easily to be of much good. how would you drive the wedge in to a hollow piece off wood, anyway?
-
if you can post pics, we might be able to tell you at least how it was made and what it was made out of.
-
from the pictures, i would say with a fair amount off certainty, that you have a Vulcan. that would make it cast iron with a steel face plate.
-
jhcc is always right. do what he says and you will progress quickly.
-
nice work. it would look better with the gun in it.

bbq forks, fire pokers, s-hooks, and wall hooks are all simple easy projects that don't take much steel. search 'blacksmith railroad spike projects' in your search engine and go to 'images'. there is a lot of cool ids there.
-
very well said. London pattern anvils are nice, but not necessary. non cast-iron anvils are necessary. the in between? rr track, hydraulic pistons, tractor weights, and the list goes on.
-
-
did u do that with a mig?
-
I use rr spikes to hold mine down. i drive them in around the base. by the way, your anvil is marked w/ stone weight, so that would make it english .check for punch marks between the numbers. if it has those it is a mousehole.

I have had snakes, donkeys, lizards, and wild dogs. not much compared to a diamond python.

Maybe a leaf key ring? Don't spend too much time on her until you know your ready to make a gold ring.
ya, and don't try the gold ring till' you have built up your skill level A LOT. messing up on precious metals would be BAD.

sparks are just part of the bargain with charcoal. you could decrease your air supply but that would also decrease your heat.
