Didn't see a picture of the markings in your album. Does it look something like this?

Need help identifying anvil
My guess is Hay Budden as well, but whatever it is it's very nice. Try posting here http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/f83/hay-budden-list-9492/ and someone can verify the serial # for you... Dave

How much do you pay for solid forge fuel?
Can't make charcoal at home, but the couple times I have made it at my wife's uncles lot it takes a few hours to fill three or four ten pound bags. Doesn't include the 90 minute drive there or cleaning the charcoal... 10lb bag of charwood or royal oak ~$5.50 each 50lb bag of coal $50-60

Cleaning off metal. A warning and a question.
Here's one with rusted chain, hook soaking in vinegar, and light rust when dried...

It followed me home
Not as hot a deal as most posts here, but not too bad. Champion 400 on CL for 80 bucks. Needs the usual maintenance, no oil in it but turns fine, no missing/broken parts found yet. It's a whole lot bigger in my 1/2 car garage compared to the Bandy blacksmith shop I took my beginner classes at. Cleaned most of the garage with a few good cranks...

Treasures Found
Did he have any blowers laying around? I could really use a post vise, did he say what he wanted for one of them? Thanks, Dave

Comedy
Did the same thing here, apparently that's what happens when looking for that first anvil. What few anvils out here posted on CL are usually gone the same day. After I bought some RR rail, a couple anvils from Ebay, a chunk of steel drop, my anvil fever was good. What happens the next couple of months, of course two Hay Buddens pop up for sale less than 20 minutes away. Both guys did the same thing, posted on a Thursday to get some interest for the weekend. I even waited until the next day, and both guys said the same thing... 'Someone was supposed to come pick it up yesterday but nobody showed up.' The Vulcan doesn't ring like a Peter Wright, more like a dull clank like when you're banging on a cast iron bench vise.
