I start my forge with charcoal and paper then switch over to coal. It's well worth buying the charcoal IMO because it makes life much easier!

I would have taken one of the 30's in, but the inspection is expired on them, and they wont fill them. It all worked out in the end tho.

I know our local welding shop has their own brand and they take victors on exchance and rebuild them. Mind you they are not as good as a new set of Victors, but they are better than a leaking set;)

Looks pretty good, I would love to have a hand made fillet knife. How well does the 1095 flex? Is it as flexible as a fillet knife you would buy?

Welcome to the site, looks like you have a pretty good plan. If you want to do some more learning, I would suggest reading the blueprints and the lessons in metalworking. Good to have you aboard!

Axles are a good idea, I couldn't see why it wouldn't work well. I will have to get an old axle from work soon and try it.
