old farriers rasps
Good to see other horseshoers around. Personaly for hoof knives I dont think I would try a rasp. I made a pretty sweet hunting knife for my brother last year out of a rasp. I have seen shoes and such made with them and I have seen some people use them to forge weld in as the bar on a straight bar shoe. The snakes are cool and that dragon above is AWESOME! Spurs look great when made with rasp. I also have a clinch block I made from a finishing rasp. You could make a clinch cutter or a hoof gouge if you use either of them. I have seen people stick them in the ground tang down around flower beds and such.

Rounding Hammer ID
I have a hang made hammer a farrier friend of mine in Atlanta gave me that looks a lot like this hammer. It is also stamped Erin almost the same as yours. I showed it to a farrier friend of mine in Oklahoma that said the hammer was made by a man named Erin in Cali and more than likely of truck axle. Thats all I know about it. I will try to get some pics of it. Its in a lot worse shape than yours.

Man how in the world do you do that?? That is amazing. Thats about all I can say about that. Great job.

Hoof knife/pick
Yes it is for trimming horses. It is very useful in trimming the frog. Which is the soft part on the bottom of the foot that looks like a arrow head. There are other single blade knives more useful to trim the sole.

Hoof knife/pick
I dont see why that wouldn't work just fine. I was thinking the same thing. Thats a nice looking knife. It looks to be hand made. They call those loop knives. They work great when they are really sharp but can be dangerous. I cut myself the other day with one.

35 pound monster sledge hammer - old
I saw someone selling a 35lb sledge on ebay not to long ago. The same guy sells a lot of anvils. I think it had a pretty good price tag too.

Candle/coin dish-
Boy I tell you what. That is art right there. To take something hard as steel and make it look plush as a pillow. Great work. I would love to see how that was done.

patch knife

feel sorry for carpenters
Thats why there is a major rule in good carpentry. Measure twice cut once. I was putting up boxing on a house once and sent the ground man to cut me a board. I got a little upset when he brought it back to short because he swore he could read a tape measure. So I tell him to go cut me another one and give him the measurement again. What does he do but bring back another one that is still to short. Then he looks at it like it shrunk on the way to me from the saw. Glad I wasnt the boss man having to pay for all the wasted wood. When in doubt get down and cut it yourself. lol.:)

feel sorry for carpenters
Rough cut lumber is the right size. A rough cut 2x4 really is 2x4. I love carpentry. We use to get boxes of nails to drive for christmas when we were kids. We would drive nails in anything and everything for hours.:)

Ballpeen Hawk ?
Thank you Mr. Willis. That sounds simple enough.

Ballpeen Hawk ?
Mr. Willis, how did you get that moon on the blade? Also those fine inlays how are they attached? That is super clean looking work. You have surely mastered tomahawks.

New here!
Yeah thats the one you made for Todd's contest isnt it? Fine looking shoe. I would make an attempt at a heart bar if I could forge weld. Yep I got the knife done. I put up pics in the "For my Brother" post here on IFI. It turned out good I think. I will have to get crackin on the forge welding.

New here!
Dang, I knew that. Dont know why I called it a straight bar:confused:. Nice looking Heartbar!:)
