  1. Thanks guys. And Arkie I saw the other post and your insight is welcomed. I'm thinking of maybe putting a leather wrap around the bars to protect the handles. Have to protect and take care of your tools
  2. I somewhat finished my anvil stand. I'm just happy I've finally got it off the floor. Still working to secure the anvil to the stand but give me a bit of time and I'll have it done.
  3. ![cdata[>NICE! So far i have been only spraying a clear polly coat on all my work. I havent tried oil yet. What kind of oil are you putting on your creations. .I made a few more items tonight. One of the crosses i tried to twist the ends but it didnt have the effect i was looking for. Thats the beauty of this craft, its all about the lessons you learn from the good and the bad that can make you better.
  4. that is not a bad idea. i will have to make some kind of clamp to hold it with a table attachment. the rust is getting knocked off my wheels in my head and the generator is starting to power up the little LED in my head

  6. Also the tools I used were a ball peen hammer a large chisel sawzall and a set of channel lock pliers. And my anvil and my old Miller falls vise. No heat was used.

  8. OK I was asked how I made my split cross. I finished this up last night. I hope this helps and is worthy of this forum with all the people that has been doing this longer than myself.

  11. I made one cut though the head then another cut though the tip of the spike on the other sides overlapping the cuts. Them opened it up.I watched a bunch of youYouTube videos before trying.
  12. A request from my wife. Something I can now mark off my to do list. A railroad spike cross. I will admit I used a sawzall to cut it though. Some difficulty swinging the hammer right now with a torn tendon in my elbow.

  14. OK I borrowed the idea and gave it a go. Good practice shaping a point. Might make more.
  15. I been working on a few more. Ive started to use spray on poly to help protect the finish. I find that it gives a nice gloss look and brings out the colors of the steel better. This one i left the blueing from the heat.
  16. nice work on the key holes. Takes a while for me to practice them.
  17. i like these small openers. i will give some of these a go.

  19. Finished this over the weekend. My kayak fisherman.
  20. Night before last i found a small piece of square stock and a light bulb went on in my head. Going off how my hand fit around my wifes wrist i sized and twisted this bracelet for her. Something fun i used to practice with.
