ANGRYANVIL
A request from my wife. Something I can now mark off my to do list. A railroad spike cross. I will admit I used a sawzall to cut it though. Some difficulty swinging the hammer right now with a torn tendon in my elbow.
rhitee93
Neat. Were the spikes welded together, and then the normal pierced cross process? Oh, and I say you definitely succeeded in CROSSing that off your list :)
DSW
That's an interesting idea. I don't think I've seen that one before. I like it and plan to save that and try one this winter. It will take me a bit to wrap my head around which way to cut it not to screw it up.
ANGRYANVIL
I made one cut though the head then another cut though the tip of the spike on the other sides overlapping the cuts. Them opened it up.I watched a bunch of youYouTube videos before trying.

ausfire
Nice job. I don't know what a 'sawzall' is, but I reckon I would use up a few cutting discs in the angle grinder to achieve that!Hope your torn tendon heals soon. I get tendonitis in the hammer arm at times, but a long way short of torn. And I don't know about you, but I'm worse than hopeless with a hammer in my left hand. VaughnT
Ausfire, "sawzall" is an American term for the ubiquitous reciprocating saw. So named because it will saw all that gets in its way. Brilliant idea for a cross, and a darn nice execution. And that photography ain't too shabby, either!

Eddie Mullins
That's a new version for me. I like it. I have made a few but I leave the head as the base so that it is free standing. Ask Google nicely and its not too hard to find the How To information : ) .
