  3. what i though, maybe mount a drill press on it....thanks...
  4. would their be any advantage to using a larger brake drum, Buddy of mine kicked off a brake drum from his shop today in my driveway. looks better suited for a fire pit. LOL .
  5. this is where i am headed,
  6. grabbed 2, 18 wheeler truck rims for 5 bucks each. what do you think about stacking them, with a brake drum in the middle. or..putting a disc tooth [farm equipment] in the middle
  7. that old vessel behind them, rusted with the rivets, that has my attention
  8. made by the Negrito of the Bugkalot tribe a pygmy warrior who live in the jungle mountains in Luzon philippines these guys can strip a downed helecopter in a mater of minutes like a swarm of ants, before rescue can locate it. all the rescue team finds is the wounded,,,cared for, the dead, covered, and trash..LOL they leave nothing true story. the base commander hired the tribe to help guard the fence perimeter, his deal with the chief is 20 lbs of rice for each Filipino caught sneaking thru the wire the Negrito, call, entice, bribe, the locals to try and crawl thru. the next morning, bodies were hung/displayed on the fence the chief was smiling,,,proud of his accomplishments. the base commander, was freaked out [official military term] at what he saw. so he fired the chief and his tribe. the very next morning, all the military police that were on guard on the flight line. [the base had f-4 fighters and B-52's for Vietnam support] had a white chalk X on the heal of their boot. the chief asked the commander if he was sure his tribe was not needed... they were given their job back, did not see his forge,
  9. I did not make these swords, I bought them at this store, he made them
  10. I guess, i will have to invest in a ergon bottle and a regulator must places want ss [process piping] only when they have a product going thru it.$$$$$$$
  11. grandma likes eggs,,,no gaskets inside tank,,cross contamination. has to be a ss weld or soldered connection. only material besides ss or copper is teflon tape ptfe ss to ss soldering works as long as you tin.the ss first, if you do not tin,,,it wont stick i have a torch, and a small craftsman wire feed cracker jack box,,never have tigged, never tried it
  12. OH yes it would, you are not daft, I have a torch but not a tig welder I have a copper adapter but not a SS coupling.. ,,tig cost money, soldiering does not, I am cheap!!
  13. I think I missed the introduce , i did not see it. HI! my name is Brian, my screen name is Frodo, .I am a 57 year old guy, plumber by trade, also pipe fitter, Hvac installer my work is a superintendent/ foremen for a large mechanical contractor out of Colorado with offices in texas and oklahoma. mainly work on prisons, and military bases,,barracks,,chow halls..that kinda stuff I weld, but do not consider myself a welder, i install copper piping 1/2'' up to 6'' soft solider and sil floss sch 40 steel pipe and occasionally glass pipe for science rooms. I am building a forge, something I have always wanted to do.. just to do piddley stuff, make a few knives..pound some metal I have an anvil, and a fan for my forge. IF it EVER stops raining, first I will mow the lawn, then finish my forge. my other hobbies include, rock hunting, looking for arrow heads, shooting long distance, reloading, any questions just ask, i am down to earth, soaking up the knowledge you guys are so kind to give. I have a since of humor, sometimes its dry, and sometimes I take it to far., HEY DANG crying when you can laugh instead. also, I am a Vet, I was in the Air Force as a B-52 crewchief, Sounds exciting,,nothing but a glorified gas station attendant .LOL My job was to be at work when BUF was on the ground to coordinate work between specialist and liaison to the flight crew. it wlll be my honor to learn from ya'll,,
  14. JPH deleted a paragraph rant...totally agreeing with you. it was political in nature I was a B-52 crewchief on aircraft 58-217 1976-1980
  15. I am working on a SS vessal, and am attaching a male adapter to the side of it, my best bet, is to drill the hole same size s the thread,,screw it into the tank.and solder the shoulder and thread to the tank. low pressure steam/ actually vapor
  16. A cool tattoo would be a zipper , half way unzipped, exposing the bone a d skeleton have a really good exercise for you., good for your hand, wrist, forearms 1 pound weight on a string, stick on the other end, hold arms straight out, shoulder high roll the stick in your hands, causing the weight to lift up bring weight from floor to waist high then down do it 10 times twice a day
  17. I did that, Harris product group stay brite solider with stay clean flux
  18. can i get some info on the correct flux solider to use to join ss and copper? and procedure, will 15% silfloss work? flux?
  19. brass pens from bullet cases
  20. I do a little copper work, also a plumber, I work with a lot of copper when you apply your flux, then heat, your solider can/will flow where the flux is, sometimes it goes where you do not want it to go , heres is a tip, if you use soft lead free solider I brush plain old pipe dope on the copper adjadent to the work i am solidering, the solider will not stick to that area. after solidering, just clean it off by rubbing with a damb rag below, i made an orafice for a lp burner attach copper to copper, thin sheet copper, low heat, lead free solider, flux i would not use sil floss, thin copper is to easy to burn up
