  13. hello, complete newbie, dont know squat. so be nice,,,no biting the newbie!!!!! going to make a forge, have been looking for a blower,,did not want to go the hair blower route, i came across a hvac, gas flue exhaust blower... any comments as to if this idea is ok or just plans insane? i figure about 5' of duct reduced to 2'' at the pit
  14. Hello,,funny story behind this anvil, I saw 4 pick up trucks parked on the RR tracks, you could tell it was a "big wig" meeting. I stopped my truck,,,yelled at them.."Where can a fella get a chunk of RR track, to use as an anvil?" they went into huddle mode,,then one said, " drop your tail gate, you have never seen me, I have never seen you" he reached in his truck and set this 24'' chunk in my bed WHOOP WHOOP!!..now that I have my anvil,,,,I am piecing together a forge. found an old Hvac exhaust flue fan..slapped a cord on it..on my way
  15. i sharpened my pencil and had to take off my shoes, but i figured it to be. a 4 1/2" pulley and a 2" pulley will get me to 60 rpms around 2 am i put 250 308 brass cases in the tumbler. it spun the brass up to the side and they stayed there yep...gotta turn it down
  16. be cheaper to jack shaft it. altho i like your idea of driving the pulleys. that could be done with a tread mill. :D if i jack shaft do i use a 5" and a 2" pully ? big pulley on the drive side little on the drum ?
  17. tried to edit my post, could not find the button  I was wrong its 1750 rpm not 3400 I marked the shaft, and marked the drum turned them and counted 7 revolution to 1 barrel revolution
  18. in the gallery picfures, the picture tagged "workshop mess" i would be at home there!
  19. I have a 18" peice a RR track, havent used it yet. good anvil? its heavy enoughg
  20. i gotta study that. pi x radius is above my pay grade!! i might not have enough toes.
  21. ohhhhhhhhh. light just came on... i got it... an extra shaft with 2 pulleys is needed to transition the rpms i have the jack shaft figured out. . yeah i was way off. thanks for splaining it to me drive shaft turns 7 times to the final drives 1 final drive is 6 1/2" i looked on line and found a rpm number for whirlpool # 279827 is 3450 rpm can that be throttled down?
  22. FRODO,
