  10. I really like your forge. I have one just like it, but the blower is underneith. Mine stays outside as well and when its windy it's hard to heat up the metal. Might steal the chimney configuration.
  11. I'm building a workbench for my handtool work. I have to chop out some mortises. I decided to craft this mortising chisel to work with. Included are before finish and finished pictures. Started with 3/4" square stock.
  12. I keep mine in a 50lb bag right now. Shovel it to a 5gallon bucket when I need more.
  13. So I was hoping that by planting my railroad track, it might sprout an anvil. It is buried 12" deep on end so that it is a more comfortable height to work at. It has also dampened the ringing noise a lot (i'm sure my neighbors are happy). I have strapped it to the log (not pictured) using a ratchet strap. So far everything is working out.
  14. I went to a local ABANA meeting (first time there) to pick up some coal. I had the kids with me, but decided to step inside anyway. While watching one of the guys I asked what he was making. Turned out it was the beginning of a rose. I didn't get to see much of the process, but decided to give it a shot anyway. Here is the outcome. Here is a video of it as well (not the process).
  15. dcraven- Thanks for posting the picture of your wrench. It is kind of like a pipe wrench except with an additional handle. I like the wrench bottle opener as well. everything mac-thanks for checking out the video!
  16. Thanks Solano! I didn't even know where to start on this forum.
  17. How do you all finish your metal products. I just made a dinner triangle for the kiddos to hang outside, but don't want it to get all rusty and end up falling apart. What different products do you use for outdoor metals? What about indoors?
  18. I had made a shop tour video of my woodshop. I finally decided to do one of my smithing area. This is about a week old, so I have already changed the design of how the railroad track is sitting. I also have an appointment to get more coal thanks to the local guild. Hope you all enjoy. Click here for video
  19. Thanks guys for all the tips. This week I will be turning that track on its end and see how well that works. Hope you all liked the video as well and I'll be making some more as I progress.
  20. This weekend I made a dinner triangle bell. I'm learning how to make the railroad track more versatile to make curves. Check out the video here.
  21. John- Everything has been updated. Frosty- Thanks for the comments. I need to put the scroll on the end and I think I will be done. Also, how do you "finish" these? In woodworking we use polyurethane and lacquer. Is there a finish?
  22. Here is a bottle opener I made from a railroad spike. Here it is.
  23. Thanks Dale. I'll have to post some up to date pictures with the changes.
