  1. Thanks again Some other various angles to view. Cheers to you guys! Michael
  2. Ric I've never met him but will keep my eye out for him, having said that have met "basher", he occasionally runs a course from ours. Thank you all for the kind remarks. It is true in my book, to avail of traditional techniques allows each element to have its own identity within the piece. With construction, the excitment comes from how the elements relate with eachother for the whole. When elements are welded and the weld made invisible definition of elements is reduced. For me assembly using traditional technique is refreshingly inspiring again, exciting times !
  3. Hi, this forged plough in silicone bronze is patinated and measures 40cm in length and 15cm high.
  4. I have'nt posted any work in a while, made use of an Iron fence upright in this work, lovely to forge. It is mechanically mounted on a charred oak pinth with patinated bronze footing. Size 30cm high and same in length.
  5. Are you going to leave that section of roof out so the celestial shafts of light (courtesy of a God) potentially remove the chill prior to lift up! Big effort and Happy days. Nice One

  7. A man that wont be forgotten for lots of reasons. Intelligent, humourous, a little bit wacky and generous. I laughed hard the day he changed his picture to that of Frank Zappa. Rivit in Peace.
  8. YOU the blacksmith.. the husband of a blacksmith (female) both realise that it is more pleasant to buy that drill than go on that holiday...

  13. There are too many bits of bracing on this and to get it back to a proper state would time consuming. I would offer him 150 and tell him he could have the first candle holder that is made from it.
  14. I find that the cracks dont seem to heal because of dryness and the depth of crack. I use sandpaper on my fingertips which reduces crack depth and promotes faster healing, then apply cream,.. Use 80 grit.. and put an end to those cracking tips! ;)
  15. Touchmark made in spring steel hammered into bronze in attachment..getting close to a ..Happy New Year ..to ALL
  16. You guys must have the biggest feet that side of the pond. I could just about withdraw a large orange from my sock Christmas morning and it was full, honest to god it was ! Nice catch..
  17. Iniatially did they not twist slightly tapered square stock to form the tap..
  18. On a different note reference NZ I tickled the paint off a plate on the side of a massey 2cwt clear space that revealed "Supplied by Kidd and Garrett, Auckland, New Zealand". Hence manufactured 1954 in the UK, then shipped to NZ and 40 years on shipped back to UK. This hammer is currently running in my forge in Ireland, good quality tools are worth moving around..
  19. Frosty it must be the silicone that gives the material it's mallebility. Surely any other mix of bronze would prove problematic to forge.
