  1. Frosty, Yes, Anchorage Alaska. I took him to a Balcones Forge demo this past weekend. He said he really enjoyed it. I will tell him about you up there. Jerry
  2. My son was home on leave to get married. He left to go back to Anchorage about four hours ago. While he was home he wanted to fire up the forge. I had a cross to finish and then he wanted to play. I had a commercial overhead door spring about 5/16. He is a machinist and we made up a couple of scribes. Worked out very well. Jerry
  3. Glenn, I greatly appreciate all of the work that goes into this site and the knowledge and experience that we all can draw from. The fact that we can ask for or offer prayers is a good thing. Keep up the good work. Jerry
  4. We will keep you and your family in our prayers... Jerry
  5. RC, I have a grandson that will be one year old on March 4. He was born at 2lb 12 oz. He had an infection throughout his body and the doctors to this day say that he should not have survived. Along with the great doctors, I have to give credit to the power of prayer. I truly believe this and we will keep you, your family and the doctors in our prayers.
  6. I'm with Jayco. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I have four sets of 8' fluorescent lights in my workshop. They seem to work well at the forge and anvil. Where I have trouble is at the bandsaw. I have set up a desk type lamp for illumination so that I can stay on the line that I need to cut. Jerry
  7. Blafen, Where are you located?????
  8. --- USA 193 --- (Falling Spy Satellite)

    lathe how to?

My son is home on leave from the US Army. He is a machinist. He said they have a great program. The only thing is it takes about one year to get your training, then four years to pay it back. Already he has served one tour in Iraq and is due to go back early this summer. He feels that there are other ways to get your training that may be more advisable.
  10. I have been suffering with the signs and symptoms for quite some time. I greatly appreciate the information and will work toward a cure. Thanks, Jerry
  11. Dumpsters tend to catch fire frequently. As a firefighter, our policy is to wear full protective clothing including SCBA when fighting a dumpster fire. It is not uncommon for very toxic materials to have been discarded not to mention what could be growing in the gunk that builds up on the sides of the container. If it was anywhere near any type of medical facility I would definitely shy away these all together. Stay Safe, Jerry
  12. Hollis, I would like to thank your son for his service to our fine country. We will pray that his surgery will go well and for a full recovery. We need to keep all of our soldiers in our prayers. They are having to spend too much time away from home. My son is home on leave to be married this Saturday. He is due to go back to Iraq sometime between April and July. Jerry
