This is 01 tool steel and 15N20 nickel alloy. 1095 and 15n20 also have nice contrast. Thanks for the compliment. My first successful damascus.
  9. The 01 was 3/16 and 15N20 was 1/16. Thanks for the compliments much appreciated.
  10. Forge welded 7 layers of 01 tool and 15N20. Cut and restacked and then forge welded to make 14 layers. Then The Blade was forged. Does this answer the question?? Cheers and thanks.

  12. I'll post more pics as these guys progress. I haven't decided on which woods yet, but yes they will be finished. The Little Viking knife will get finished as is! Thanks for the compliment.
  13. I am new to this craft and also this site. I have had a million questions answered here. By some of the members and by reading the forums and checking out BP's. The more experienced guys here are awesome. It's in my opinion that when someone has questions for people don't come blank paged. I have had many failures as a new Smith and have received a lot of great advice here. Cheers to those who helped me out along the way. If you have never tried it don't ask how. I have shown the more experienced members here that respect and they have made my failures successes! I have learned a lot here.
  14. You my friend are a lucky man. Good thing you were up high in a Jeep and not on the ground in some little foreign car. This story would probably read a little differently. Glad you're okay! Cheers from New Brunswick Canada.
  15. Welcome, You will find all kinds of info about everything you need here. It's a great site!
