just depends on how bad you want one and how comfortable you are paying

as drewed says. there is hardly anything that is a one of. take your time. a lot of the stuff looks like it was used hard and put away wet. hard to say what kind of prices will be there. im guessing there will be some collectors for the anvils and vises so that could run the prices up. let us know how you make out. too bad im already committed for that weekend.

better talk to  the rr  first before you do anything. theft of rail is not a light matter and all the rr's that i know prosecute. even if there are trees growing through it. as stated before, dept. of homeland security, fbi, and a host of other agencies get involved.

i am a retired railroader and my son still works for a railroad and this type of situation is not taken lightly. good luck.

royce, those are bridge bolts. used for bolting timbers and such together. they are not driven with a spike maul, driven with a air wrench.

used a 102 lb pw for 40 years as a farrier and such. then a 178 trenton came along at a price i couldnt refuse. now use the trenton a lot.

you also have to figure in shipping across country. while the price is reasonable, a little over 2 bucks a pound, i am  not familiar with that brand of anvil. whatever it may be. after shipping the cost will  average out more like 4-5 bucks a pound if you where to get at the current price.

years ago i went to a horse auction. someone bought  pony for thier kids and didnt have a way to get it home. i suggested they take back seat out and tie it with baling twine on the roof and put pony in back. so pony in back with 3 kids, 2 adults and akid in front seat  and away they went. they had about an hours drive. i guess they made it ok but the car must have had a awful mess in it. it still  gives me chuckles.

fun to watch. osha would be having a fit.
