  16. Archie, People "attract" what they concentrate on (like friends and simple pleasures instead of flying fiberboard). Your post reminds me of a story I tell me nieces and nephew.... One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” Pam
  17. I wish I could make a iron and copper GATE.
  18. Make sure it's level or it might TILT
  19. Andy has it right. Although if it's something I can work hot, I don't bother quenching. Heating to a dull red is what softens it. Quenching cools it enough to handle. This pendant was made with copper ground wire and totally hot forged. Just remember when hot forging to watch your piece carefully and not let it get above a dull red. Copper melts easily. Also when hammering, use a practice piece first to get an idea of when it work hardens. It's not quite as easy to tell as iron. If you continue hammering after it's work hardened it'll become very brittle and will chip, split, and crack.
  20. Wayne, I agree. I think a title that causes you to say "Oh yeah." means the artist understands what he made, and is more than just something put together with no thought. Art to me is something that evokes an emotion. I took my 14 year old nieces to one of the local art and craft galleries. One didn't want to "waste her time away from friends" and the other thought "art wasn't something she could ever do". As they walked into the gallery however, you could see their eyes light up and an entirely new world open up for them! It was also eye opening for me, the things that most interested them, and the reasons they liked specific things verses other things. Thankfully we went in hour before close, otherwise we might still be there. Art can be playing with all of your scraps and welding them together, if you do it in such a way that at the end evokes an emotion and meaning from you.... besides "what a pile of junk". Pam
