  1. After pondering and lots of zooming in and changing colors and midtones in the photos. I think I can make out the words MADE IN SWEDEN....But it could be a trick of the mind. What do you all think????
  2. added a horn and Added some new toys 90lb vulcan and an 83lb steel anvil(possibly swedish).
  3. they look to be about an inch but I will measure and post the size
  4. Hello fellow members, I am pleased to announce I finally found and bought an anvil. Actually two anvils. Though neither are anywhere near perfect, they will serve my purpose fine. The first is a Vulcan #9. I thought it was a #5 but after I cleaned some of the paint an rust off of it I saw it was a #9. Which explained why it was so heavy. The second anvil is more of a mystery. It is a cast steel (I think) with the markings 83Lbs and what looks to be a star shape and the word warranteed below the star (both above the 83Lbs). There is a mark on the bottom of the anvil looks like a "0" and the is a mark on one of the feet looks like a "4" or an "A". The bottom also has a real nice smoothe recess that is oval shaped. If any one can ID the second I would appreciate it. Other than that they are mine and I am happy. Now to make some tools for them.
  5. Hello fellow AFC members. I new to the AFC, I joined a few months ago. I have yet to attend a meeting but hope to do so soon. I live in the Butler, Alabama (Choctaw County) area. I am an at large member. Does anyone know where I can get some coal for my forge? Closer than Birmingham? Thanks.
  6. Been working on the forge when I can, added a Champion 400 blower, and painted the forge body. Next will be some new legs and bracing also a hood.

  21. Thanks, I have already burned up some tongs I was making. Coal gets hot!!
  22. Hello All! I finally got me a coal forge. It was owned by the man who drove the school bus I rode while in elementary school. He passed away a few years back, and his wife and daughter were left with the forge along with his anvil and post leg vice. The forge and other items belonged to his father who was also the local blacksmith at a community near the river south of me. I am not sure, but I think it is a Buffalo Forge #12 pan. There is a number cast into the underside of the forge looks like a 12. The blower was stolen or misplaced. There is a bracket attached to the bottom of the pan that would have held the blower. I believe it used to have a clinker breaker but that was replaced with a grate some time ago. If anyone can identify this forge and/or have a lead on a blower that would work. Please post.
  23. $50.00 is $50.00. If they are not in the way or slowing you down. Why not?
