  1. ok seal poison but that seal poison needs to be injected into the Carotid artery to work so coal once again is. so all y'all seal fans rest easy.
  2. did you notice that he said Pocahontas not coal. Pocahontas died hundreds of years ago. so that means that Pocahontas is evil not coal.
  3. i sell my knifes at bow hunting shoots, gun shows, flee markets, and a glass blowing shop in Ohio i get 1/2 commission. maybe when i buy some more titanium i will sell them on ebay for all to see. 110 pounds do not go very far considering it cost $1500.
  4. looks nice i guess i have to play kill the pony keg. :o
  5. put on a pan of boiling water 2 hours before hand them make a hook
  6. first a hack saw to get the fine bevel then a cross tooth file then a single hash file. then diamond steel finally a water stone. hack saw takes 5 min cross tooth file 10 min single hash file 5 min diamond steel 5min water stone 10 min it should be shaving sharp by then if its not you did something wrong. hope that helps. i generally keep the bevel from 25 to 30 degrees.
  7. hey ya'll im from the south i know why i said that. i always wanted to try that except for a bike on it's highest gearing ratio. and in stead of a tire on the wheel i would use wooden pegs. and the bellows would have a weight on top of it. the wheel wold turn and the peg would lift up the bellows handle the weight would push it down be fore the next peg came. if you do it you way you want fast and quick steps. oh way and try not no trip and fall into the forge.
  8. xxxx i made 250 of those suckers they sold fast i will try to see if i still have a few. then comes the part of my stupid camera. i am going to buy a 110 lbs round bar of titanium in 1 year or 2 i defiantly can get you pics of that. even know the bar is $2500 i make i lot off of every one. they take 11/2 times as long to forge tough. but they are worth 10 times as much one the right market. that bar only lasted 3 months. and the knifes 1/2 that. no kidding them knifes sell fast.
  9. hi guys i was wondering what other smiths do with old forges. so what do you guys do? i give my coal ones to my apprentices for free. i sell my gas ones at my classes.
  10. looking good. the first forge i made was made out of a wheel well from a semi truck. it works like a dream it can hold so much coal.
  11. any coal will work just not brown coal. i use anthracite some smiths say that it does not work that is total BS. if any one says that anthracite coal does not work do not listen. anthracite coal burns the hottest of any coal. the reason why i say brown coal does not work is it burn with the least heat. in my experiences brown coal is worse than charcoal. most of the coal in the us is not brown coal so you should be fine. some people say that anthracite needs a contunious air supply to burn. i can prove them wrong first of all my experience with coal, and 2nd of all there are anthracite coal mines that have been burning for years no one is putting forced air in them. if they mean it needs air to burn so does everything else including bituminous coal that has been blown up by way too many blacksmiths. that is not my o pinon that is a fact. I am i die hard anthracite coal fan. i think that we should have i whole new section the anthracite coal form. that is my opinion though not a fact. how many of you are die hard anthracite fans ?
  12. sry i do not have pics a 21/2 in by 81/2 ft long piece of titanium. i already made it into blades.
  13. how well does hydrogen peroxide work for etching?
  14. i have been using sulfuric acid to reveal the pattern in Damascus steel. i was wondering if any of you had used vinegar and how well does it work. i have to drive 1 hour to get my acid. so i was wondering if any one used vinegar and how well did it work. i do not have any Damascus steel on hand to try it.
  15. sorry some how i accidentally posted this 2 times so i deleted the 2end one
  16. one day i left my shop door open. i went in to my house, and noticed that the door was open maybe just a few hours since i had left the shop. i closed it with my remote. in the morning there was i hog out side and 2 more in side. one of them weight 300 lbs. they tore up that shop real good.that was the most exiting. i usually have some cotton mouths in there the most i ever found was 9. that is life in the delta for you.
  17. sorry i could not get back to you. i was thinking of sanding the surface smooth, then putting on some welding rods, then a piece of steel. i would heat up the steel with a oxyacetylene torch. my anvil is still usable, but it is really beat up. i bought it from a farmer who pounded steel on it cold. it is a 120 lbs hey bunden anvil sorry i do not have any pics.
  18. can anyone help me? i live in Cleveland Ms, and i can not find coal. does any one know where i can get some. i can order it online but that costs a lot. i do not want to drive more than 4 hours. so the closer the better even if it cost a little more.
  19. sorry i was gone hunting. i came here seeking advice, not permission. now i am going to tell i am going to do. i am going to make this gun out of a railroad spike. i will bring it to a gun smith. he will find what faults there are. and we will go from there. i will still comment on other posts and make new posts, but i hope this is the last comment on this post. i know i will not comment any further on this post i will not even look at it and i hope you do the same. by the way i am not a troll.
  20. hi guys i got a job i have to make titanium knife. that is easy but i want to re face my anvil. have any of you done this before. what steel would be best for this? i have some 1/2 in steel it is medium carbon. I have some other thinner plate steel.
  21. hi guys i said i might key word might but probably not strap it to a tree and fire it away 300 feet away.i i forgot to mention that i have old rail road ties to hide behind i use them to test rockets. it is also in a dried up old pond so the only way shrapnel can go is up. where am i? 300 feet away. the reason(but none of this will mater because it will be on a wall) why mach lock got replaced by flit lock is because if you have 6 inches of string that's about 3 hours of time you can spend out. also when you have something burning it gives away your sent. if wrought iron was so bad for guns why was it used so long in the military for just that. most of those guns are still around today and functioning. if leaf springs cant flex why have they been used in cars for so long and are still used to day. lest say you take to identical sords except one is made out of carbon steel the other a leaf spring. which will brake first when you bend them or hack on a tree or maybe toss them a couple time or run over them with a truck. you try it the answer might surprise some of you i know i have try it.
  22. looks nice have fun with it
