  1. The real answer is; when the mill stops giving me money for playing on trains! Especially since my masseys are up there too!
  2. Too fourex hot? I dont mind a goldie on a hot day. Im assuming you must have used an extreme vulgarity, but cant work out what four letter word fits there!
  3. Fahrenheit was based upon brine mixed with ammonium chloride, the melting point of ice and "average human body temperatures" wasnt it? Pretty arbitrary to me... Anything is decimal if you divide it by 100. 100 graduations between three phase points of a substance that makes up so much of the world around us seems to be a pretty fair way to sort things out.... How many humans have access to absolute zero temperatures to form a reference point?
  4. Centigrade AKA Celsius. Makes sense to use a decimal system for temperature when other systems like currency and dimensions are decimal also. To put it simply; 0°c is freezing temperature of water and 100°c is boiling of water.
  5. They weren't. They didn't have much on their agenda except meeting young eligible male companions... I did not oblige... As an enthusiast (of industrial archaeology) myself, i know others when i meet them! Relationship goals!
  6. That winch is worthy of a good selfie Darryl! Walking around Cairns today with one of my 10 year old daughters, we were guessing the tourist by their accents. Every second tourist had a familiar twang that was undoubtedly American. She said to me when we got back to the car; "I can tell the Americans because they are always always so loud!" Out of the mouths of babes! I had a similar welsh story to yours, Darryl. I was hitching around the land of the long white cloud, when i met a group of girls from Ebbw Vale in wales. When i told them that there was a suburb in ipswich called Ebbw Vale, they were so excited that they made plans to go there when they got to brisbane the next week. They would have been SO exited by the abandoned brickworks and run down workers cottages!
  7. The Atherton tablelands- the promised land.
  8. I prefer ANVIL toes, it makes me feel more important...
  9. Havent seen anyone try a walrus yet! Imagine the size elephant you can make with a 3cwt alldays and onion!
  10. We have a family of six laughing xxxxxxx that come for breakfast every morning
  11. I wouldnt mind if they supplied some fourex (××××) once in a while!
  12. You mean he forged with a hot cut hardy in the anvil? How did he keep his fingers??! Or arms or legs or his toes? (Sarcasm is SO easy to type....)
  13. I counted the xs and assuming you dont mean two fourexes I guess you mean the laughing jackdonkey.....
  14. They spend all night wondering what the punchline is, and suddenly it dawns on them!
  15. "Superman Does Good, You're doing well, you need to study your grammar, son" Tracy morgan
  16. Two bantams and a family of kookaburras is all I need, dogs just make noise and mess, and cats are just death on four legs.( Each of five neighbours has at least one dog. Every single one barks at absolutely nothing at all hours, and every cat in the neighbourhood roams free at night, disembowelling small creatures in my yard) The burras keep the snakes and mice down, and the bantams are for company and cute little eggs... smiley face.
  17. Why is samuel yellin? I have had a similar thing to the candlestick story happen. I made some items as a gift, a year later i found the same items for sale , as antiques, in an antique shop alongside actual originals, but mine had more on them! The receiver of the gifts had passed away, and the family couldnt tell what was new or old...
  18. This is one of them with plywood circles, temporary, to get the dimensions right. Took this one for a hobbyhorse style ride this arvo. For those who dont know, this is one of four replica "boneshakers" or velocipedes, based on 1869 originals that i have been making for some australian bicycle collectors. The predecessor of the ordinary (retrospectively nicknamed the penny farthing) the frames are forged from a single piece. The wooden wheels are made with hub, felloes, spokes and steel tyres, like a cartwheel. The wheels off one of these bicycles can be seen in the foreground, leaning on an original 1869 frame. The ordinary leaning on the ute is also for restoration
  19. Cold down here too Darryl! Must have got to at least single digits for a few minutes this morning, and watching the blokes at work you would think it was Siberia! Lucky we were doing steam trials so we had steam everywhere! I thought i was like marilyn... My wife thought i looked like i had flatulence issues...
