Thanks Metal99, no the maple wasn't stabilized professionally. It was sealed with linseed oil and half a dozen coats of paste wax. Prior to that I used vinegar to color the grain.

    Integral

Hi guys forged from a piece of coil spring. The blade is 7" the whole thing is 11". First time trying an integral. Wanted an old looking belt knife and this is what I came up with. Tell me what you think. Keith
  9. Thanks Robert, the first 3 are old files and the last one is 1080.
  10. Haven't posted here in awhile. Been working on knives and trying to find my style. Here are a few I haven't posted here, or at least I don't think I have. Regards, Keith.
  11. I like it all, except the camo cord. I agree a solid color cord would be more complimentary to the whole package. Still a very nice looking and well finished knife. Keith.
  12. That's a cool little knife you made. I like it and love the deep etch. Keith.
  13. Phil the blade was a cutoff of a old saw mill blade, a fella told me it was probably L2. I have no idea but it gets very hard and hold a heck of an edge. The handle material was antique steer horn cuttings and the bolsters, if that is what they are called, are for an attempt at welding cable (not too successful). Still new to this have only been attempting knife making since right before Christmas. But I am enjoying it thoroughly. Keith.
  14. Thanks guys, the sheath is turning out to be more trouble to make than the knife. Keith.
  15. Wow! Very beautiful, would love to see it handled. I'd keep it too if I made it. Keith.
  16. Thanks Mitch it was a fun little one to make. Keith
  17. Haven't posted anything in a bit. Been working on this small boot or neck knife, haven't decided yet. I guess the sheath will decide what it ends up as. All from scrap lying around the shop. Regards Keith
  18. That's really cool good work. Keith.
  19. Thanks guys, twice a year the national muzzle loading assoc. holds shoots at Friendship Indiana. It has two big flea mkts. muzzle loading shoots, tomahawk throws, knife throwing ect. Any thing you could imagine you can see. Plenty of pelts, woods, supplies. I want to have four knives for trading. It's a fun time, haven't been in awhile so looking forward to it. Keith.
  20. Took some quick pictures of a little dagger I'm working on. A little rawhide one the handle and sheath, tone down the edge and it will be ready for trade at friendship festival. Keith.
  21. Thanks bigfootnampa for the comments. I wrapped a leather sheath with the rawhide. Under the eyespots I inlaid python belly. I agree, I should have set the rivets closer to the edge. It has a leather welt but had to double up some thin leather to thicken it up. I need to get more thick leather. Thanks again, Keith.
