  1. There are ways to make your point and there are ways some are better than others remember when asked why someone said something hurtful and the answer was but it's the truth, don't cut it.
  2. Hi it is a carriage makers anvil and yes it had a horn it is a little younger than this one.
  3. Thomas strikes again with all his knowledge he is sometimes not too smart. constructive ---- destructive.
  4. Not destroyed just altered about 80#
  5. I made a straight peen hammer head from 52100 hardened and tempered back three cycles at 375 for 1hr becuase of work hardening 2 1/2 lb and it sure moves iron feels great have let two of my full time blacksmith friends use it and about had to fight to get it back .

  7. I have had 3 Southern Cresant anvils all had the thinnest plate I have ever seen cast iron a vucan with a longer name I would take the Vulcan.

Said it one time will again ebay is just a sourse one of many in buying anvils for 3 years I have bought 3 on ebay one was a local pickup most local. why not use another sourse even if it don't work out very often. Got a 310# Hay Budden and stand for $350 not bad shape from a fellow who approched me at a auction. you know what they say about opinions
  10. About that auction I got 4 of those anvils a paragon two hay budden and a mouse hole prices not too bad on 3 of the four but the 155# soderforst was pricey. ( but I like cast steel )

  19. Heck I have a new old stock Brooks 144 lb I would sell for less than half of new list price they are a good anvil but whew!!!

  22. Got to showoff again I never have seen one like this carriage makers anvil 165 lb 1600 to 1750 makes me feel young.
  23. Well now I feel guilty I didn't get the old carriage makers anvil quite for free his wife said get rid of it and I gave him $100 for it and a stand. Honesty is the best policy. I feel better now.
