Preparing the mixture

Fill the glass with warm water. Pour cooking salt (sodium chloride) into the water until no more salt will go into solution. You know this when no matter how long you stir, there remains some salt in the bottom of the glass.

Any container will do. I used a transparent glass because I wanted to slow how it is done.

Then pour some liquid soap into the salt water and stir. Very Simple !!!

Preheat the tool and dip it into the salt solution. Let dry. This will form a layer of salt on the tool which is the lube.

This is only for the first hole, as later the heat of the tool enough to dry the water from the salt. This will form a layer of salt on the tool which is the lube.

To use, start the chisel into the metal. After a couple of hammer blows, dip the tool into the salt solution to get more lube on the tool.

Pre heat the tool and dip it into the salt solution and let the salt dry forming a film. This is only done for the first hole. With a salt film on the tool start the drift.
