larrynjr
I finally got out and did some hammering today and made this hook with a philodendren leaf out of a rr spike.
tech413
Looks good, that's a lot of work to make that from a spike, but it turned out real good!
Frosty
You must've really been into hammering today, that's a LOT to work down from a RR spike! Looks darned good. Frosty
divermike
wow, nice job, it's amazing what you can do with a simple old spike.
saintjohnbarleycorn
I like that thanks for sharing it.
larrynjr
It was a lot of work, I've been away from the forge for a week or more. It took me almost 4 hours to do that. I like the way it came out though. The trick will be if I can do it again to make a matching hook with the leaf on the opposite side. CurlyGeorge
Nice! Man, you must have felt like doing some hammering! That is a nice looking hook.
larrynjr
you must have felt like doing some hammering! Of course I ALWAYS want to be out hammering but rarely get out consistently so when I do manage to get out there, I like to get `er done! dablacksmith
you need a power hammer!! 4 hrs for one hook is way too much time!! looks good tho...
larrynjr
you need a power hammer!! I agree, but it's not in the budget for me yet. We'll see how the year goes.
larrynjr
I made this chop tool today after church. And yes I realize the rear fuller is lopsided. It should still work though.
larrynjr
I made a matching hook to go with the first one. I need to tweak it a bit more so it "matches" a bit more but overall I'm happy with them.
dablacksmith
they match good enough! dont try for perfection on matching people like um to be a little different ! they look good tho ... you sure you cant build a power hammer like a rusty/ crusty or tire hammer??? it really helps especially on the drawing out prosess... just a thought..... larrynjr
I've thought about the Rusty/Crusty hammers before but wasn't really in the right place mentally to get into something like that. I'll have to revisit those and see what I think now. There is the tire hammer too that I've looked at but haven't bought the plans for yet. A power hammer would certainly speed up the process...........hmmmmmm
