December 20, 2025Dec 20 I was gifted this hammer by a dear friend- it has a slice through the handle which is said to aide in flexibility, allowing your arm to rest more while working. thought it would be of interest!
December 20, 2025Dec 20 Good Morning, That style Hammer Handle was the 'TOPIC' about 25-30 years ago. It allows the Handle to Spring, thus not having as much impact to your 'Elbow'. Ever Hear of 'Tennis Elbow"? Ever lived through 'Tennis Elbow'? It's not from playin' 'Tennis' either. The holes drilled at each end of the cut, stop splitting. Since then most people have learned "Not to rest your Thumb on top the Handle'. Way better velocity. 'More Bang for Your Buck', Buckooo. Neil
December 20, 2025Dec 20 I believe there is or was commercial versions of split / vibration damping hammer handles. IIRC there wasn't much kerf, just a thin saw cut with a spacer in the eye and wedged normally. Unfortunately that's what I remember and it's not reliable enough to put money on. I can show you the dent. Frosty The Lucky.
December 20, 2025Dec 20 Seems like the same concept that Stanley and MAC uses with the tuning fork in the handle.
January 4Jan 4 Author Having used this type of handle, I can tell you that it does not seem to be better than a regular handle. Granted, I have not used this one for very long, but it does not feel much different. If anything, it feels like the weight balance of handle versus the hammerhead is off a little bit, making it slightly uncomfortable. This all could be in my head.
