wsws
Hello , Sadly I don't know yet anything about anvils and blacksmithing but I do appreciate the craftmanship alot. So I bought an anvil from a guy in Belgium, he didn't know anything about it. I bought it cause it looks different from other anvils, it's very decorative imo so I put it in my living =). Only label I find on the anvil is AH45 ( can't even read it very well ) Can someone tell me something about it? what could be the estimated age ? what could it be worth ?? ( paid 225 euros ) greetings
TWISTEDWILLOW
Howdy from eastern Oklahoma and welcome to the forum, if you haven’t yet then you might want to take a look at the read this first thread, it full of great information on how to navigate the forum, you might also want to update your profile location, without knowing your location it’s hard to say if that’s a fair price or not because anvils can cost drastically different depending on what country or region your in, The anvil you have there is a stake anvil they were made by a lot of different manufacturers im not as familiar with them so I can’t say if it’s wrought or cast, but the label kinda makes me think it was cast, as to the age a ruff guess is it was made sometime in the late 1800s up to the mid 1900s but that’s a guess, Maybe someone else will be along soon with more experience with those style anvils and be able to give you more information

JHCC
Very nice stake anvil. Not good for really heavy forging, but definitely worth putting to use!

Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I have seen stake anvils like that with the base in some old pictures of different mounted military units around the Spanish American War and WWI time periods. If you do a google search for military stake stump anvils there are a lot of sites about them.

Frf
This is a sheetmetal worker’s stake anvil. AH is the anvil maker’s initials, 45 is probably 1845.
