February 5, 20215 yr Saw this for sale on xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Listed at $1200, 330 lb PW anvil, he was “taking to get welded” but decided to sell instead. Another photo shows the missing chunk placed adjacent to the hole. Judging by the rusty area, seems like there was a partial delam, so they decided to cut it off?
February 6, 20215 yr That is just . . . sad. However, it may still be a usable anvil but at around $4/lb. is fantasyland IMO. Maybe if the chunk wasn't missing but if he can find a fool who is soon parted with his/her money so be it. "By hammer and hand all arts do stand."
February 6, 20215 yr Paying double the price of scrap and removing the anvil from the sellers premises is making him a big favour. No one knows what is the delamination condition of the remaining top plate though a picture. I would buy this anvil at the right price as a challenge to repair it using the Robb Gunther and Karl Schuler method... But that is me, I like this type of challenge.
