George N. M. Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 As many of you know, nearly 50 years ago I was an infantryman in Viet Nam. Not a day goes by that I do not think of the young men who were not as fortunate as I was and never got to come home and grow old. This Memorial Day weekend, the first long weekend of the summer of a very strange year, please take a moment to think of the young men and women who never came home from all the wars. Here are a few thoughts for the occasion: "They will not grow old as we who are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them." -Laurence Binyon "America without her soldiers would be like God without his angels." -Claudia Pemberton "Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die." -G.K. Chesterton "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived." -George S. Patton Je me souviens. Quote
