KingAether Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Took my vice apart and threw it in vinegar over new years and got to it today, far from perfect still and ill be getting a wire wheel tomorrow to make it a quicker job but managed to find a markers mark which i didn't expect ATTWOOD's BEST STOURBRIDGE WARRANTED Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Definitely made in the UK. A picture when you have it all put back together. Quote

KingAether Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 evening of hard work and it looks a world of difference! Quote
CrazyGoatLady Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Agreed. It turned out looking real good Quote
KingAether Posted January 4, 2020 Author Posted January 4, 2020 Thanks! To be honest after seeing it im half temped to do the anvil itself too, would be give an excuse to clean up the edges a little while im there. Any idea if this marking could be something from the manufacture? Its a different letter set but its not the initials of the previous two owners, noticed it this morning... Along with the area of rust i missed =| "T . M" Quote
DanJohnson Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 That is an exceptionally nice vise. Wow. Outstanding find and respectful restoration. That's a vise that would never leave my shop once it had entered. Dan Quote
Greebe Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 That must have been a lot of vinegar. What did you find large enough to put it in? Quote
