Chuckbuckeye
So I don’t have a anvil yet but have a crappy make shift thing I made . I’m wondering if this Vulcan 8 is worth $240 . I have read that these are the bottom end of anvils but would it work better than what I have . Sorry I keep asking so many questions . Marc1
Nothing wrong with Vulcan anvils, in fact it is prefered by many hobbyist who have sensitive neighbours. That anvil looks like it had never seen any work. in fact it looks too good. I am no expert in cast objects but I am tempted in calling it a reproduction of sorts. If it is a Vulcan, it is indeed in great shape, take away some cast defects.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
The price is a little steep for an 80 pound Vulcan, $240 U.S. works out to $3.00 a pound. Although it appears to be in good shape it will definitely be better than what you have. I would try haggling with the seller for $2.00 a pound. BTW I love my 110 pound Vulcan because it's quiet enough I don't need ear plugs
Chuckbuckeye
Thanks guys ! Well since my son can here me pounding away in the garage from the basement I’m sure the neighbors will appreciate it . Lol looks like I will try to get him down a bit but it’s a friend and is in a tough spot just wanted to make sure I was giving him enough for it and not too much . Now on to mounts ! JHCC
Attaching it to its base with silicone caulk will reduce the noise even further.
