Sam Salvati Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Set of two hammers, and 3 sets of tongs for a trade. 2 sets of bolt tongs one to hold 3/4 round and square, the other to hold 1/4, and a set of flat bar tongs. One cross pein and a smaller version, larger is 1.5 pounds, the smaller is about 1/2 pound. Handles are hickory. Even though that hammer is only 1.5 pounds, it hits HARD. Quote
keykeeper Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Nice work you did there Sam. I like those handles, look like they would grip just right for a multitude of hand sizes. Quote
larrynjr Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Great looking hammers and tongs Sam, did you make the handles yourself? The one I just bought from the hardware store and put on my modified hammer broke inside the hammer head tonight. Almost knocked me out! Quote
Sam Salvati Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 Thanks guys! Aaron, I like these handles in the shape they are too, but I LOVE the contoured handle I did on the japanese/euro style hammer I made a bit better only because I can get and shape them to fit my hand perfectly, hard to do for others. Larry, I gorund them out from a replacement sledgehammer handle from Home Depot, the ones I found atthe hardware store as replacements were crappy and would not fit my eye holes. Follow JR's BP on making hammers and mounting them, it is now the only way I would ever mount a hammer, it works so amazingly well. Quote
welder19 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Nice work! Do you happen to know the BP # for that? welder19 Quote
Dale Russell Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Sam , i thin the handles down on my hammers just like that ,, i found my hand / elbow / shoulder was gettin' sore with a thicker handle Dale Russell Quote

unkle spike Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 What do you use for steel for the hammer heads you make? And for a cross pein what size stock do you prefer? Quote
