Cooper_kaesemeyer
Does anyone know how to stop mosquitoes from leaving larvae in the water resovoir. Also to stop it from freezing I’m I’d the Pacific Northwest so I go weeks without seeing temps above freezing. And to stop algae from growing in the tank
Charles R. Stevens
Low toxisity automotive antifreeze will address both isues. A peice if hardware cloth will improve the safety of the antifreeze. Then again 16 hours a day at the forge will boil the little buggers and keep the bosh from feezing
Cooper_kaesemeyer
Would RV antifreeze work
ThomasPowers
Covering the opening with a screen should help with mosquitoes, As you will be working near it as it cooks off I would look for non toxic antifreezes.

Glenn
Put a drain into the tank. Drain off the water when you finish and replace it at the beginning of the next forge session. As you work the forge the water should heat up and kill the mosquitoes.

Charles R. Stevens
I can’t say about rv antifreeze and heat, but they do make non, or low toxisity automotive antifreeze
Glenn
They never worried about mosquitoes in the old time shops because is you did not boil the full size whiskey barrel used as a slack tub half dry by lunch, you were not working fast enough.
