Crytin
Has anyone tried forge welding expanded metal? I think you could get some interesting patterns out of it.
JNewman
I saw someone demo forge welding expanded metal to plate several years ago. I believe he used the results for dragonfly wings in a sculptural piece. I was thinking it was Doug Wilson but may have been Peter Hapney. For similar type things look up the work of James Viste. If you ever go to one of his demos sit in the back row. The molten flux really flies.
Crytin
Awesome. Thanks. Thought it might give the appearance of scales
Stash
At ABANA '14 in Delaware, Roberta Elliot forge welded fireplace screening onto a pipe vase she made. The texture created was pretty incredible. No reason x metal shouldn't do the same. Steve
John McPherson
The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. You could slump glass into it and make bowls. This was at Touchstone last spring.

ThomasPowers
Stop by NM Tech sometime and look at all the explosive welding and repousse art on the campus! I once used a piece of chainmail in a billet and though I was hot stuff until I was at the next Quad-State and got to see a knife where the maker had forge welded up lathe swarf...
