September 7, 20169 yr Be really nice if you et the old boy's forge going again. Gives you a link to the past and shows respect!
September 7, 20169 yr Great that you get to use the old forge. How's the blower? Does it turn and blow air freely? Once you get it going, you can re-purpose one or both of those nippers into some nice tongs.
September 7, 20169 yr Author Yes the blower turns freely and there is air flow. I just don't know how much air it's supposed to blow

September 8, 20169 yr Congrats on the heirloom. Nice touches your grandfather made with the accent stones. Shows he had some artistic blood. The genes went through to your work lad. Grandpa would be proud of your work & ecstatic that you are using his forge to build beautiful things!

September 8, 20169 yr Author I needed to get some knives heat treated before I go back to work this weekend. I improvised. I have a large pear burner. A good friend runs a brick yard. He gave me 20 of their bricks that will go to 2500 degrees. I layedon't the brick into an oven type and there you go, a propane forge.
September 8, 20169 yr Author Worked good. Just had to fine tune the doors for back pressure. But I was able to heat treat 5 knives
