  1. The top knife is a production blade blank. It's several years old and I put the mesquite handles on it.

  3. I have a friend that can get all the cutting edges I want from motor grader and bulldozers. Does anyone know if they will make blade steel.

  6. Here is my first farriers rasp knife. It's stock removal. It is also the first knife I heat treated. It has a solid mesquite handles, that I milled out myself. Need some minor touch ups.
  7. The guys catch hogs with dogs. This is the reason for the knife. They don't want to shoot guns around their dogs, risking hitting one. The guys try to Dispatch the pigs quickly so they try to find an efficient knife. Devine. Shoot I'm just.minutes away. I'll be there
  8. Worked good. Just had to fine tune the doors for back pressure. But I was able to heat treat 5 knives
  9. I needed to get some knives heat treated before I go back to work this weekend. I improvised. I have a large pear burner. A good friend runs a brick yard. He gave me 20 of their bricks that will go to 2500 degrees. I layedon't the brick into an oven type and there you go, a propane forge.

  12. Yes the blower turns freely and there is air flow. I just don't know how much air it's supposed to blow

  15. I'm all about doing it myself. My brother and I run our ranch by trying to do as much as possible on out own. If all works out in will have a large forge to work with. My grandfather had a lot of blacksmithing equipment in have to try and track down.
  16. I have searched sites and post. Searched the web. I know of places that heat treat. I was hoping to find someone alot closer who knew of a local service or would provide a service. Any input is greatly appreciated
  17. Yes I have read the stickies. I just don't have a set up yet. Believe me I don't want to get blasted for not reading stickies and researching...
  18. Is there anyone in the San Antonio area that provides heat treating services, or any members here that would provide services. I have knives in 1095, files, and rasps. I am currently working on researching which forge im going to build. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
