imagedude
I was blessed with some good weather today so I decided to move the Blacker to its final resting place. Here it is on its metal highway, some 12" x 3/4" steel plate. The view from the first winching position: 2" rollers (scaffold pipe) used to keep the hammer level:
imagedude
Got tired of moving the steel plates so I let it plough: The view from winching point no. 2: The hammer was winched over a 3" step using the steel plates again:
imagedude
Finally in the shop: The garden looks much tidier now that the hammer has been moved:

ThomasPowers
Just tell them the ploughed section is for a new gravel walk to the shop... Bet a pint was mighty appreciated after all that. I once had an city official come bug me about something else when I was raising my champion hammer to load it on my truck using levers and a lot of blocking. He didn't like being called a safety hazard as I was concentrating on the lift and couldn't understand why I would refuse to leave the hammer in mid lift to talk with him. (Silly git). It's a lot easier when it's all on the ground! When I moved my large screw press I put 10x10cm skids on it and chained it to the bumber of my truck to drag it infront of the shop doors and then used levers and rollers to get it in. Slow and Safe is my motto!

GVR-4579
So how exactly did you bring the hammer back from china after it plowed its way down there? LOL I had to move my whole machine shop a few months ago, the only thing i had to drag was my large lathe but i could still get the light end of it up so it didnt plow in. Ted T
Good Job! You have earned a good nights sleep. I am sure it will be worth it once you get it into operation. Be safe! Old Rusty Ted
