Forged from 20 mm round bar of 120WV4 (2516), shibuishi bolsters and pins and handle slabs from sheep horn.

With the overall length shortly under 8 inches it is a small one.

best regards

Stunning :)

Love it!  I really like the sheep horn, though I've yet to  try some. I have a knife made by Scott Roush with horn, and I've liked it ever since.

Also like your bolster engraving / texture.  Is it cold blued?

thanks for posting.

How did you get your sheep's horn straight and flat for a scale?  Boiling?  I have a large supply of Ram's Horn but I am not sure how to process it correctly.

Mitch, bolsters and blade are cold blued.I use no specific brand for coloring ...just whats available and gives patina.

Thanks.

Yes, I boil it in water. some prefer oil but water works as well. The pieces just have to be hot.It is important to hurry pressing them, before they loose the warmth.

And they should remain like this for several days. Then cut out a oversized scale and cook and press again.Scales should be clamped between platens when not working with them, to keep them as straight as possible.
