Ice Czar
think my neighbors might complain Id also be careful to ascertain how much is wrought and how much might be cast
jimbob
It would be nice if a group of Blacksmith or like minded people could purchase the old bridges of the country and stock the wrought iron for other smiths to use.
Blacksmith Jim
The purchaser will be required to relocate, rehabilitate and maintain the structure in accordance with the guidelines in the Secretary of the Interior's "Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings" (US Dept. of the Interior, National Park Service, 1983). Bummer. I think they might get upset if you just start cutting it up.

Mende
Usually just the supports of the bridge are cast . .as cast iron does well under compression. the majority is wrought :D
Ten Hammers
Jens, I gotta tell ya I get nervous WALKING over the foot bridge in Bentensport sometimes. Ted, "Old age and treachery overcomes youth and Skill " thats my story and I'm stickin to it. In reality, I thing the bridge would perhaps be a combination of all 3 ( wrought, steel and cast ).
