78sharpshooter
Has anyone seen an anvil like this or know what manufacturer it may be from? craigslist link removed
Frozenforge
That looks like an old Peter Wright that has had a much thicker piece attached to the top or was a custom order. The close ups are too blurry to see any details.
Fatfudd
it could be any make of anvil like a hay budden or a Trenton with the tail broken off.
VaughnT
That extra thick top and extra high step to the shelf makes me think it's some kind of custom anvil made for a very specific kind of manufacturing. Never seen anything like it, but it doesn't look like something cobbled together in a shop somewhere.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
It looks like there may be a weld showing, so that may be a plate that was added. If he can send you a pic of the underside of the heel, you may see the hardy, and pritchel holes that were covered up.
b4utoo
I actually bought that anvil... If anyone wants a better look at it... There is a hardy and pritchel on it, just seen on the underside It looks like a good shaped anvil with a top plate steel welded on which is odd since anvil look like it seen little use....It was just a good weld job from a distance it weighs 223.5lbs My bro went out to SD to get it for me. BIGGUNDOCTOR
I hope he came waaaaaaaay down on the price, at least 50%... Being welded like that, and not knowing the history it is in the $1 a pound, or less range for me.
b4utoo
No weld marks inside hardy or pritchel....Has better rebound than my 200 fisher eagle Price I paid was great. No complaints or regrets I can bring both holes back if desired. but thinking I might leave it as is...since I have others. i still can't figure how good the rebound is even after the new plate. history didn't matter since is was checked out before purchase. Looking forward to next project with it...
