Hold on, I'm wiping up all the drool over that scrap pile. 

How about a monster curtain rod   the plant hanger idea sounds neat. Could have long hooks protruding from the nubs. Top nubs could have a long single hook and since they alternate the bottom nubs could have two rods coming of, supporting the upper hook to either side. Basically each upper hook would have a support from the bottom nub on either side.  Hope that was understandable

Well ausfire I see now that you have even more interesting parts to incorporate into your projects. Plant stand is a good idea, my wife wanted one for small cacti.

Absolutely understandable. My concern is that those knobs look very much like cast iron, with the seam running up them.

Oh yeah that would pose a problem. There is always drilling and brazing.
