December 20, 200718 yr I just delivered these blades today to my bone Doc. He is into Japanese cuisine and so is his Mom and sister. These are just a token of my appreciation for the repair of my shoulder. He went above and beyond the norm to get me fixed up. My shoulder is not up to hammering yet, so these are stock removal. Style--------Santoku Steel-------- 3/32" 1095 Fittings------ black micarta Handles------ curly maple OAL---------- 11" Blade--------- 6" Quick pic All comments are welcome. Thanks for looking. Mike
December 20, 200718 yr I am not a fan of the japanese styles of knives, However something about these makes me rethink my stance. I may have to make one up for the kitchen and give it a try,,thank you for sharing. Hope your wind gets well soon.
December 21, 200718 yr Very pretty, I am soo new, and have soo many questions. How do you do that? :D
December 21, 200718 yr I have a knife like that in my kitchen arsenal, it is the most used of all of them. 'Cept mine isn't near that purty. He will appreciate them, I'm sure. Wondered where you were, hadn't seen that familiar turtle avatar lately. WELCOME BACK!
December 21, 200718 yr Going through physical therapy on my shoulder after a simple removal of a large bone spur I can feel for you! Bruising from PT has been worse than from the surgery! I'm also lucky in that it was my tong arm that got worked over; I was back at the forge in 10 days; though it was not happy after I stopped. Using my 2' hacksaw was good PT for it to get the joint moving and the blood pumping. Good Luck and great knives!
December 21, 200718 yr Author It felt good to be making knives again. I really miss forging and may not ever be able to do it again, unless I can learn left hand.( yeah sure) I am just trying to streatch the muscles and ligaments at this time. By Feb I can start some light weight training. Only time will tell. In the mean time, I'll just keep at it with stock removal. Thanks for the kind words and well wishes.
December 29, 200718 yr Are those for chopping up the fish and what not? Anyhow, great, great job with those. Like the how well the handle goes with the blade. Keep it up.
