Old South Creations
according to the serial number it was made in 1905 & is a farrier type Edited July 23, 2015 by Old South Creations
ThomasPowers
Some of the late period American anvils tend to have long thin horns and heels and fairly limited sweet spots for heavy work; however besides being LOUD they are excellent for ornamental work! fluidsteel
It says 1905 right on the side as well as farrier... Lol
ThomasPowers
Good to double check though.
Jrucks
So you are saying if I go down to harbor freight and buy an anvil and write 1905 farrier on it you will take my word for it?
Glenn
You may wish to read How to safely ask curmudgeons for advice.Your first post was to ask about the serial number and date on your anvil. This would have those that have already paid for the book Anvils in America to look up and share the knowledge it contains with you. The answer was provided i3 hours later, without charge. In my view your second post should have been to thank Old South Creations and ThomasPowers for saving you $65, the cost of the book Anvils in America. Jrucks
Yes you are absolutely right and I do appreciate the help. I thought I replied this to Old South but it seems there was a technical failure on my part. Thanks and God bless
