December 12, 200817 yr Hello, I am from Spain. I like to making blacksmith tools. This site is the best!!!!.
May 31, 200917 yr Thanks Apprenticeman, different version to what I have seen before. I'll try and get some drawings done of the two other versions. Might be of interest generally. John
May 31, 200917 yr Author Please do John! Woah a blast from the past, this treadle is still in my shop, I don't quite use it as much as I would like considering the investment made, but I do not use alot of tooling when working with blades.
May 31, 200917 yr Looks pretty fine, nice work! If the "anvil" is a tube (as it appears) you will not be able to get much work out of it forging with any flat dies. Try hand hammering on a piece of square tube compared to an anvil. Concrete filling does not help much, you need a real chunk of iron. You're still getting a lot of bang for the buck, and having fun too.
May 31, 200917 yr Author Yeah, as stated in the thread the square tube was all I had, and it was based on the simple treadle design that used to be a BP here on the site before it was removed so that plans could be sold here on IFI. I only needed 1 20 footer of the 2 inch square 1/4 wall tubing, the design is made so that it is easy to build and SIMPLE to build.
