ThomasPowers
The swordmaker I trained under used his hands and made optically perfect grinds of over 30" long---lots of practice was involved!

ThomasPowers
When you could hold a 30+ inch long D2 sword blade up to the light and sight down the grinds and not detect *any* deviation, wobble, or imperfection I would say he danced an excellent jig! gearhartironwerks
Those vids are all over Youtube. It's not hard to figure out how to make it, nor is it difficult. John
basher
Hollow grinding is one of the quickest and easiest types of free hand grinding to master. I would really try it before going to a jig.
