fordmustangbrad
Today I bought five anvils from a metal dealer. He buys and sells interesting scrap metal...cool guy. I got a sweet colonial Mouse Hole, an Isaac Hill, a John Wilkinsons, a London Pattern Colonial, and an unidentified anvil(name is present, hard to read). All five for $400. Enjoy the pictures. fordmustangbrad
Also finished this hammer today. I found it in a field with my metal detector, cleaned the rust off, and put a handle in it.
John McPherson
5 anvils? Must be that there "New Math" I heard about. By my count that is three anvils: 1 Colonial, and 4 halves. :D Confound them Yankees anyway. Think we can blame the start of Global Warming on Sherman while we are at it? VaughnT
That hornless anvil is just begging to be used for a home-built power hammer!
notownkid
Someone was darn hard on their anvils in N Carolina. Nice collection of half anvils!
ThomasPowers
my math came out US$200 for the complete one and 50 dollars apiece for the partials---not bad and some of the partials have a LOT of life still in them! Just think of making a stretch anvil from 2 of them or a pushme-pullme anvil...
fordmustangbrad
Thomas powers, that is exactly how I had figured the math. I think I will leave them in as found condition to preserve them. I rarely beat on any but my fisher, I just could not let these get away from me.
