Metal Fish Sculptures

Featured Replies

Here is a Bass that I am working on as well as the KOI fish project completed . I am going to do the same type of theme with the Bass except it will either be chasing a smaller fish or I might make a metal lure and place it in his mouth with piano wire for the string attached to a lilly pad to give the effect that the fish was caught by an angler.

Very clever. Nice work with the lilies. Did you make the frog too, or is he real? It has a metallic look.

Thanks ausfire, The frog is an iron casting that I did.

An iron casting? Well done. More information please!

Had a look at your website. I like how you got the tempering colours on the fish and the lily pads. Neat.

Thanks guys .  I think the next fish theme I do will be in stainless. I am not sure how to protect the KOI sculpture ( plain steel ) from the elements as it is supposed to be outside on a deck next to a KOI pond. Any ideas ?   As far as the frogs, yeah they are cast. I did them about 8 years ago and ruined more in the casting than what actually worked. I do some spincasting now with pewter and zinc as my alloys. Here are the last two of the Iron frogs waiting to be used on another bright idea. Ha Ha.

Fantastic artwork! The finish looks great, the frog and the lilies look amazing. Great additions to a pond. Beautiful work!

In my neck of the woods, the above well designed sculpture would be complete when you add a snake or two...with maybe a few mosquitoes. Very attractive work. Thanks for showing.
