I Forge Iron

Curtain rod

Recommended Posts

Curtain rod for my Sister in laws Birthday.

I have made many before, but this was the best. I think it is because instead of forging the end of the rod I made them separate and welded them on, holding a 6' stick of 1/2" round in the forge and over the anvil my small shop has always been a pain. It also allowed me to use 5/8" round for the ends so I had more stock to push around.

I got a new TIG welder last summer and it is the best tool purchase since I got my forge and anvil. It isn't needed to weld mild steel, but the control is so dang nice and I don't have spatter to clean off. made welding the ends on an absolute dream.

I have been practicing these kind of curls for a while now as I really like them and want to use them on everything.
