Steve Sells Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Made from Crucible L6 and O1. 300 layer single edged blade, full tang, hidden pein in pommel. 304SS guard and pins, black micarta and a form fitting kydex sheath locks in place, with a quick release belt attachment. This was a comission made to order, but now its available, client lost job or something after completion. thanks to JMRICE01 from here, I have a loaner camera now Quote
Crazy Ivan Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I really like the shape of that handle. Looks like a very solid and comfortable grip. Very nice work! -Crazy Ivan Quote
jmccustomknives Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 How does that stuff pattern out. I would think those two steels would be close enough in alloy that they wouldn't contrast well. It's hard to tell with the "loner" camera. I bet it holds an edge well. Two of my fav. steels. Quote
Steve Sells Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 The O1 is very dark with Ferric Chloide, after 40 minutes etching, then buff to shine the L6 Quote
Rich Hale Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 L 6 has nickel in it and with 0 1 does really well Quote
TheoRockNazz Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The handle on this one is great. Did the customer specify the blade shape, or is it a specific style? Also, is that an edge quench I see? Quote
Steve Sells Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Client design. It is a full warmed oil quench, shadow is from the angle of blade bevel. I cant imagine an edge quench with O1 turning out well :o Quote
Dodge Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Neat looking piece, Steve. You make the micarta or buy from supplier? Quote
Steve Sells Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 I confess, I passed the buck on that. I went to my local gun shop, and had the guy that makes the holsters for local police make it for me. We talked about my clients needs, and added the quick release, in case the hip worn sheath got hung up while he was climbing, he could remove it from the rocks/petons Quote

I actually meant the micarta handle material... Quote
Steve Sells Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 I bought the Micarta, I was thinking the Kydex for my last post. Sorry.. . too many things going on here now. Also forgot to monetion 6.75 inch long blade, 1.5/8 inch wide. It is a hair over 1/8 inch wide spine at base, 1/16 inch wide 1/2 inch from tip. has some flex Quote
